Our renowned tropical substrate, developed in-house over five years and available since 2019, is the perfect medium for both tropical &sub-tropical terrariums. It retains moisture effectively, enhancing ambient humidity while ensuring proper drainage to prevent waterlogging of live plants. Our mix supports a thriving microfauna population, including isopods and springtails, due to its rich organic content that provides ample food and essential nutrients for plant growth. Tropical & sub-tropical plants can be directly planted into the substrate with no need for additional soils or mixes.

To maintain optimal conditions, our tropical mix should be used in conjunction with a drainage layer to facilitate excess water runoff, thus preventing soil saturation and the growth of mold, mildew, and fungi. The ideal setup for the drainage layer involves using a mesh atop our AK Reptiles and Custom Background Designs Hydro balls or Scoria.

This product is obtained from local suppliers who provide high-quality, non-toxic, and chemical-free materials.
