Coral Lichen
Coral Lichen
Cladia retipora, commonly known as Coral Lichen or Reindeer Moss, flourishes in the wild within sclerophyll forests, establishing itself on leaf litter and in soils of low fertility, especially in regions with high rainfall and significant airflow.
Coral lichen shows remarkable resilience to prolonged dry periods. In fact, excessive moisture is the only condition detrimental to its survival. Therefore, it is recommended to place Cladia in the least humid area of your terrarium, ensuring that the environment is consistently humid but not waterlogged.
For all terrariums, regulating humidity levels is a general rule. Persistent condensation on the terrarium's interior glass suggests too much moisture.
Mosses and lichens are sensitive to plant fertilizers and untreated tap water. If needed, it's best to amend your substrate soil with ground organic compost and use rainwater, boiled water (cooled for 10 minutes), or demineralized water for watering.
Apart from terrariums, Coral lichen is also an appealing decorative feature for bathrooms, floral displays, and tabletop decorations.
Its color vibrancy and colony density naturally vary with the seasons. This moss can survive extended periods without water.
