Live Sphagnum Moss
Live Sphagnum Moss
Peat moss, known scientifically as Sphagnum, is a distinctive plant species flourishing in particular habitats, mainly wetland areas. These environments include bogs, marshes, and peatlands across temperate and boreal regions globally. Peat moss has evolved to endure the acidic, saturated conditions of these areas through unique adaptations. Its compact, sponge-like structure effectively retains water, fostering an ideal growth environment.
Incorporating green peat moss into your terrarium can spark conversations and distinguish your terrariums from others.
Mosses and lichens are sensitive to plant fertilizers and untreated tap water. It is advisable to use an organic compost amendment for your substrate soil when nourishing your plants and to hydrate your moss with rainwater, water boiled for 10 minutes, or demineralized water.
