Pipe Cleaner Moss
Pipe Cleaner Moss
Ptychominon aciculare, also known as Pipe Cleaner Moss, is a species of moss that forms thick or tall tufts, making it ideal for medium to large scale projects.
In its natural habitat, Pipe Cleaner Moss thrives in sclerophyll bushlands, growing atop leaf litter and in low-fertility soil within high rainfall regions that benefit from ample airflow. Ptychominon is a lightweight moss that forms tufts or colonies, capable of growing stems up to 10cm high, densely covered with leaves from top to bottom. This moss easily separates into individual plants or strands, offering a variety of planting options, though it is most commonly placed as a whole colony on top of the substrate.
Mosses and lichens are sensitive to plant fertilizers and unfiltered tap water. It is recommended to use ground organic compost as a soil amendment for nourishment and to hydrate the moss with rainwater, water boiled for 10 minutes, or demineralized water.
The color richness and density of the colonies may change with the seasons. This moss species is resilient and can endure prolonged dry periods.
